Four Ways to Become a Safety Champion
Prepare Before Riding
- Wear a properly fitted helmet every time.
- Use knee pads, elbow pads, and closed-toe shoes.
- Ask an adult to check the wheels, brakes, steering, and loose parts.
- Wear bright or reflective clothing when visibility is limited.
Respect Electricity
- Never approach or touch a fallen power line.
- Keep toys and hands dry around electrical sources.
- Stay away from substations, transformers, open panels, and construction areas.
- Tell an adult immediately about sparks, smoke, or damaged wires.
Choose a Safe Path
- Use sidewalks, bike paths, parks, or approved riding areas.
- Stop, look left, look right, and look left again before crossing.
- Follow traffic signals, signs, and adult instructions.
- Stay away from cars, driveways, crowded areas, and playground equipment.
Ride Responsibly
- Ride at a safe speed and keep control of your toy.
- Do not use phones, headphones, or other distractions while riding.
- Do not ride on wet, muddy, icy, or slippery surfaces.
- Be patient, kind, and careful around younger children and pedestrians.
